George Ladlow. Born 16 Apr 1857, Port Elliot S.A. Died 15 Jun 1918, Birchip. Aged 60. Buried 17 Jun 1918, Ballapur. Reg No. 3975. Religion / Church of England. He married Mary Ann Austin, daughter of Henry James Austin & Mary Ann Hopkins, 29 Jun 1885, Bible Christian Church Horsham. Reg No. 3320. Born 23 Jan 1859, Ararat Vic. (The Gap) Reg No. 20774. Died 11 Sep 1921, Birchip, Vic. Aged 64. Buried 13 Sep 1921, Birchip. Reg No. 8562. Religion / Church of England.

Obituary - The Birchip Advertiser - A Sad Fatality - Death of Mr George Ladlow - Tuesday June 19th 1918.
It is with deep regret we have to announce that one of the oldest residents of the Birchip West district, joined the majority on Friday last. The late Mr Ladlow left his home about 10 o'clock Friday morning and expressed intention of going around his sheep. As he did not put in appearance throught the day, the house became alarmed, and on a search being made the deceased's hat was found on the bank of the dam. Constable Matthew's and other assistance, commenced to search the dam, and the body was recovered at about 8 .30 p.m. on Friday night. Acting coroner Mr J Lockwood J.P., on Saturday returned that the deceased ......his death by drowning, but there was no evidence to show how deceased got into the dam. Mr Ladlow was a very old and resprected resident of Birchip West, having selected land in that district some 25 years ago. He was extremely popular and highly respected by all classes of the community, and his sad end caused a great shock to his many friends. He leaves a wife and a large family to mourn his loss. It will be remembered that the deceased's son, Walter, died on active service some months ago, and the other son Charles Ladlow, is at present on active service. The last remains of the deceased were interred in the Birchip cemetery on Sunday last.
