Info: Olive F Shaw, September 2003
"Annie Fred and family lived at 17 Clarendon Rd., Manchester until 1925 (info Kelly´s Directory of Manchester and Salford).
I believe Mabel and Beatrice remained unmarried, they lived together in the Cheetham Hill area, mum took my younger brother and myself to visit them frequently. I don´t know anything else about Sydney"

"Annie had married Fred - a bricklayer - at the turn of the century there was a lot of house building going on in north Manchester and the mill towns, with the growth of the cotton industry. Fred would have come for work. I had assumed that Rose had come to be with her sister when her first child was due, - this turned out to be correct as Rose was indeed staying with Anne when Sydney was born. I didn't know that Dinah had come to Manchester also, but would have found her when next I was in central library Manchester looking at the 1901 census, all the Fergusons were also in that same close area. Rose got a job as housemaid in George Street, and obviously decided to stay. Through Fred her brother-in-law she would have met John Ferguson, a painter and decorator. All the Ferguson boys, and their father and his brothers were house builders and each had a different trade, master builder, plumber, plasterer, painter and decorator. They always worked together, and referred to themselves as 'the firm'.
